About the book

What would you do if, out of the blue, your husband disappeared and you found out he was a suspected criminal?

When reliable, respectable Felix Kendall vanishes, his wife Kate is left reeling. As she and their children cope with the shocking impact on their comfortable lives, Kate realises that, if Felix is guilty, she never truly knew the man she loved. But as she faces the possibility that he might not return, she also discovers strengths she never knew she had.

"A poor show"

by Marion on 18/08/2010

I expected better from Clare Morrall. Although the writing was of a high standard this was let down by a very poor plot. Reliance on stereotypes, come on a cleaner and lollipop woman, destroyed any credibility this novel may have had.

"Great Characters"

by Lynn on 05/08/2010

Page turner, each chapter given over to develop each character which makes you desperate to find out more. Likeable family and you end up routing for them, hoping they will find their way through their issues - except the lead character who you never really get to understand.

"The Man who Disappeared"

I expected more from this subject and I feel it failed to deliver, but saying that it was an enjoyable light read

"Summer read"

by Frances Farnan on 19/07/2010

An enjoyable and quick read. Being a lover of the West Country, I knew the areas and this gave me a greater interest. A very middle class setting with boarding schools etc however this did not detract from the plot and the overall enjoyment. Felix was an odd character - may be that was the intent? Kate however demonstrated guts and determination, and with her young family I felt she was a believable character - trying to hold their lives together. Not sure of the ending although it was good not to see an automatic 'happy ever after'.
